Sunset Point

Sunset Point lies near the Saputara Museum on the Sunset Point Road. It is often referred to as the Gandhi Shikhar (peak). Lying 1.7 km from the town, the sunset point offers a beautiful view of the sunset. From the beautiful point, one can look through the Dang Forest and the different tribal villages that lie in the close proximity to the city. By the rope way one can reach this point in just 10 minutes. The sunset point is open for tourists all round the year. However, the most ideal months for viewing the beautiful sunset point is from March to November. Other tourist spots in the Saputara like the Saputara Museum and the Vansda National Park are also in the vicinity to the Sunset Point.

Pro Tip: Wear surdy shoes as there is no vehicle available to reach the top.

Boating at Saputara Lake

One the greatest attraction at Saputara Lake is boat riding and viewing sunset as the sun dips down in the evening time.

The charming Saputara Lake also offers a wonderful view of the grand Sahyadri hills and is an important tourist attraction.

A serene and beautiful Saputara Lake is known for boating and the lush green and colorful garden on both sides of it. It is a perfect getaway for eco lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and people who love boat riding.

There is boat house, can sit watch other people riding paddle boat & also enjoy the sunset from the paddle-boat.

There is lot of small attractions for kids around the lake and you can have even had a quick bite.

Ropeway

One of the longest ropeways in the country.

One of the major highlights of the small city is the ‘Pushpak Ropeway’, considered to be one of the longest ropeways in the country.

Gira waterfall

Enjoying the picturesque panorama and the 150 feet tall waterfall roars down the edge, you will praise the wonder of the nature.

Gira Waterfalls are a majestic year-round cascade situated in a verdant setting, about 50 km away from Saputara. This waterfall is formed by the watercourse of the Gira River after it falls from 75 feet high cliff. The water spills over the cliff at a very high speed, which creates conditions similar to dense fog. As you sip in the tea or coffee from the stalls nearby, enjoying the picturesque panorama and the 150 feet tall waterfall roars down the edge, you will praise the wonder of the nature.

On a clear day you can even spot a rainbow above the waterfall. With the arrival of the monsoon season, this falls experience a heavy flow of water and can be witnesses in its full glory. Owing to the unspoilt natural beauty and increasing popularity of the Gira Waterfalls, efforts are being made to turn it into a tourist hot spot. Set amidst lush greenery, this waterfall provides a great opportunity to click beautiful pictures. Visitors can take several snapshots while enjoying a picnic at this scenic spot.

Lake Saputara

Artist Village

Gandharvapur Artist Village Saputara

Artist village, also known as Gandharvapur artist is an artistic place to see and buy tribal artifacts.

People who live in Dang area are known as “Dangi”. They have their own language and own vibrant culture. One skill these Dangi culture inherently teaches to its people is painting and crafting.

When this place is open, you can also get a hands on experience on arts and crafts. Artist village Saputara is popular amongst arts schools.

Artist village also provides super cheap accommodation in Saputara. If you’re not so cheesy about extra facilities or high end services, stay at this place. In all, it won’t cost you more than Rs. 500.

Artist village is located opposite to Saputara lake side.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir

A visit to Swaminarayan Temple can also be combined with other tourist attractions across the city.

A visit to Swaminarayan Temple will give you a greater insight into the various cultures and traditions of Saputara . If you are planning a vacation in Saputara, then you must go visit Swaminarayan Temple. Echo Point

Echo Point is a famous vantage point and picnic haunt in Saputara, which attracts a horde of locals as well as tourists. As the name suggests, visitors coming to this place can hear the echo of their voice.

This viewpoint offers a splendid vista of the surrounding landscape, which is made of gurgling waterfalls and abundant verdure. With its scenic location this viewpoint makes for a peaceful getaway in Saputara.

Hatgad Village Fort

Hatgad Fort, Maharashtra Near Saputara

Hatgadh fort is a major trekking destination near Saputara on Gujarat – Maharashtra border. The ancient fort is stationed in Mulher village, Nasik district, Maharashtra. As Hatgad is 3 km from Saputara, Gujarat’s most popular and beautiful hill station, many tourists visit this fort as a short excursion.

Standing on the edge of Sahyadri mountains range, Hatgadh stands tall at 3600 feet (1000 m approx.). It’s flatten hill-top is around 200 m from ground. Sky touching height and breezing atmosphere makes Hatgad an all season trekking place as well as local weekend trip destination.

Though, Hatgadh fort looks best in monsoon season.

Hatgadh Fort is built in the highest peak of Shyadri ranges in the Gujarat province. It is located at an altitude of 1097 meters above the sea level.

Hatgadh is 3 km from Saputara on Saputara – Nasik main road. Drive for 2 minutes towards Nasik from Saputara and ask any local, he’d show the way.

Nageshwar Mahadev Temple

Situated on the southern tip of Saputara Lake, Nageshwar Mahadev Temple is the most celebrated shrine of the hill station. The prime deity of this shrine is Lord Shiva, who is worshipped here as the God of snakes (Nageshwar).

This beautiful temple enshrines Lord Shiva's Swayambhu idol. Although this temple is visited by several devotees every day, it witnesses a huge influx of devotees on Mahashivratri – the prime Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva.

As the temple is nestled along the banks of Saputara Lake, it boasts of a scenic setting. Visitors coming to this shrine can click several pictures of its imposing structure and beautiful surroundings

Rose Garden

Rose Garden, as the name depicts, has lots of varieties of roses. Though, when I visited the place, I wasn’t so amazed by roses. There are variety of roses but nothing extravagant.

Rose Garden has free entry. Notified Area of Saputara used an innovative approach for this rose garden. They started a scheme named, “Smriti Gulab” in which visitors can plant a rose in garden with their name. Memory, you know!

Step Garden

Step garden is one of finest maintained place in Saputara. It’s a small garden, consisting from 20-25 steps. On each step, you’d see wide range of flower beds.

As soon as you enter to Saputara from Gujarat side, take right turn and you’ll arrive at Step Garden.

Garden hasn’t huge span, it can be covered within an hour. Good place for family — take some snacks and rest here.

From the top of Step garden, view of valley is mesmerizing. You can also get a town view of Saputara turning 180 degree.

For photography this place is like heaven. (Or in that matter, entire Saputara is full of scenic places!). On the top of Step garden, you’d see a hut like setup. Keep eye at this place if you’re in need of changing your Facebook profile picture!

The Top Point

Table Top / Town View Point

Table Top Point is also known as Town View Point . The name table top comes because of flat table like surface on top of hill called Governor’s Hill.

Table top point has many recreational activities. In fact, it’s hub of most of the adventure activities in Saputara. During tourist festivals like monsoon festival, this place has different aura.

This point is known by multiple names. Town View point and governor’s hill are other names those identify this place.

Some of the recreational activities this point offers:

1. Bike riding (It’s polluting the environment however)

2. Horse riding

3. Camel riding

4. Ziplining

5. Valley crossing

However a point to keep in mind about these activities is, they might not available when tourist rush is little to none.

Saputara ropeway has one of its end on table top point. If possible, do take ride of ropeway, I guarantee you, it’ll be your best memory of Saputara.

Artist Village is regarded as the cultural and traditional center of the region. It is regarded as the best Saputara attraction for buying traditional as well as tribal artifacts.
